Give Sports General Banner

Our giveSPORTS program provides new and gently-used sports equipment and participation fee scholarships giving children in need the opportunity to participate in sports.

Participation in extracurricular sports significantly impacts short and long-term educational, emotional, behavioral, and physical outcomes for disadvantaged, poverty stricken youth. Did you know?

  • Low-income families are 4 times more likely to decrease participating in sports due to costs.*
  • Student athletes are 50% less absent than non-athletes. *
  • Physically active kids have up to 40% higher test scores.**
  • Student athletes are 4 times more likely to attend college.***

In 2016, we served 4725 children of all ages, who received new or gently-used sports equipment and scholarships. We are grateful to have the support of Kroenke Sports Charities, Key Bank, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Buffalo Wild Wings. 2017 dates will be announced soon. How does it work?

Children in need can access giveSPORTS through 3 different avenues:

Our Resource Center:
A Precious Child houses a giveSPORTS equipment section in our Resource Center so children and families who are shopping for basic essentials also have access to sports equipment!

Scholarship Program:
Children are able to fill out a scholarship application for any sport of their choosing to cover the costs of registration, camp fees, or additional equipment. Funds are given directly to the league and/or team. This gives children in need the opportunity to participate in sports alongside their peers despite their ability to pay.

giveSPORTS Equipment Drive:
Every Fall, A Precious Child partners with Kroenke Sports Charities to host the giveSPORTS Equipment Drive at the Pepsi Center. Equipment and Funds are collected in order for A Precious Child to distribute to thousands of children in need.
