Carina Martin had a vision of providing basic essentials for all Colorado children in need. In 2008, she started A Precious Child to do just that. As the founder and CEO, she is dedicated to realizing that vision every day. Carina's knowledge of the business world, coupled with her passion for service, inspires the community, partners, staff and volunteers to work together on a mission to help disadvantaged and displaced children. Carina was awarded the Channel 7 Everyday Heroes Award, the Channel 9 Who Care Award, Heart of Broomfield Award, and the Community Champion for Children Award from CASA of Adams and Broomfield County. Carina serves on the Broomfield Health and Human services, Broomfield Youth Recognition Award, and the Tripartite CBSG Board. Additionally, Carina was nominated for Outstanding Woman in Business through the Denver Business Journal. She is a member of the Advisory Board for GuideStar. Carina attended Western Washington University where she studied Business Management. She worked in the retail management industry for 14 years.

Britta Robinson has a passion for serving underprivileged children in Colorado, and she puts it to work through her strategic and operational responsibilities at A Precious Child. She oversees all activities regarding staff, programs, organizational growth and execution of mission. Britta has served as the Executive Director since 2014, having first been the Director of Development in 2012 and then the Associate Director in 2013. Prior to joining A Precious Child, Britta was an Account Manager for a boutique ad firm in Chicago and then worked as a Marketing Consultant for the Colorado Chapter of Susan G Komen for the Cure. She spent a year working for Kaiser Permanente in Clinical Informatics and Decision Support. Britta has a MBA from University of Denver and she holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Miami University where she specialized in Marketing and Organizational Communication. Britta lives in Denver with her amazing husband, Drew. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Mali, West Africa from 2005—2007, and is currently a volunteer for the Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue.

Lisandra Gonzales joined the A Precious Child team earlier this year as the Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Operations and was shortly promoted to Deputy Executive Director. During the short time in her position, she has helped to facilitate the further development of the program’s Action Plans and Processes and Procedures. Prior to A Precious Child, Lisandra worked with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Adams & Broomfield Counties. She began her relationship with CASA in the fall of 2008, and served in a variety of roles including Recruitment Coordinator, Director of Marketing and Development and ultimately as Executive Director. Lisandra is credited for significantly increasing the program's revenue, increasing the number of Advocates serving children through innovative PR Campaigns, and the development of programs such as the CASA Ambassador Program and the Young Philanthropist. She has a BA in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Phoenix and is a Brighton, CO native. She has been married to Ray Gonzales for 19 years and has two children, Alejandro, a High School Senior, and Jacqueline, an 8th grader. She currently serves on the Adams County Best Practice Courts Team, the Drug Court Board, the Broomfield Quality Practice Team, the Broomfield Best Practice Courts Team, and the Broomfield Youth Recognition Awards Committee and, is a self-proclaimed "soccer mom." In her free time, Lisandra can be found out on the soccer field cheering on her 2 favorite players, Alejandro and Jacqueline as well as enjoying Colorado Rapids Soccer games.

Jim Anthony joined A Precious Child in 2014 and oversees the fiscal, accounting and human resource functions. He provides fiscal support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors and ensures accurate, up-to-date discal accountability and compliance with applicable government standards. Prior to joining A Precious Child, Jim worked in the commercial banking field for 15 years before making a career change to nonprofit management in 2009. He is an ardent believer in our responsibility to care for the disadvantaged and is thrilled to be a part of the team at A Precious Child. Jim holds a bachelor's degree from CU Boulder, and a master's degree in nonprofit management and accounting from Regis University. He lives in Denver with his partner Andy and their two dogs.

Nicole Salter was hired by A Precious Child in May 2014 after being an Advisory Board Member for two years.  Nicole is responsible for helping to manage fundraising activities and special events, working closely with businesses, individuals, foundations, and charities to procure sponsorships, donations, in-kind donations, as well as, cultivating donor relationships, prospect research, and gift and pledge processing. Nicole has previously worked for Holy Family High School as the Director of Development and has a deep background in Event Management and Fundraising.  She has worked with a variety of organizations to help increase fundraising revenue, improve donor relations, and consult on events. Nicole has always had a strong desire to help and make a difference.   Nicole graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Operations. She resides in Thornton, Colorado with her three children.

Meredith McNulty is the Events Manager for A Precious Child and is responsible for helping to raise funds on behalf of the organization. She accepted her position at A Precious Child both because she absolutely adores working in the non-profit sector and because youth and family service agencies hold a special place in her heart. Working on the special events side, Meredith is able to give back while planning fun and exciting fundraisers that help raise awareness for the organization. Meredith firmly believes the progress at A Precious Child that has been made in such a short time is amazing and as the Events Manager, looks forward to helping with the continuation of the growth. Meredith began her non-profit career in 2009 at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Vision impaired where she was the technology buyer and assisted those that were suffering vision loss. Upon a personal move to Dallas, she started working with Jonathan’s Place, a local non-profit emergency shelter, as the Events and Volunteer Manager. In doing so, she was able to gain special events experience as well as raise awareness for children in Dallas County. Meredith is married to her husband Patrick and lives in the Highlands with him and their pug baby named Menina. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, travel and being with friends and family.


Joan Cordo

Joan Cordo joined the Precious Child team in  2015 as our Donor Relations Manager.  She brings a high level of  compassion for helping families and children in need and truly believes in the mission of A Precious Child.  She realized her passion for nonprofit work by volunteering with many different organizations over the last several years while staying at home with her 3 children.  She then moved her educational focus to specializing in nonprofit  for her Business Management degree which she received  from the University of Colorado. Joan's responsibilities include cultivating in kind drives, forming lasting partnerships with individual supporters,  community outreach and managing our donor database. Joan lives in Denver Colorado with her husband of 18 years and 3 rambunctious children who keep her busy with their very active schedules.   Outside of the office she continues working within the community as the President of the local Optimist Club.  In her down time she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with family.

Coming to A Precious Child in 2010, Courtney Wickberg worked as the Clothing Bank Manager and was promoted to Client Services Director a year later where she was responsible for overseeing all of the activity at the Resource Center. In 2012, she was promoted to Director of Programs where she is now responsible for overseeing the management and implementation of A Precious Child's eight programs. Courtney graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a major in Organizational Communications and a concentration in Marketing. Prior to A Precious Child, she worked at a nonprofit in West Palm Beach serving as a Child Advocate and Program Associate for children living in poverty. Serving others has been a priority and passion for Courtney since a young age. Growing up as a missionary kid, she had the privilege of traveling around the world and serving those most in need. She currently lives in Denver with her husband and their adorable dog, Foster.

Kristen Noble joined A Precious Child in January of 2015. As the Manager of Grants and Evaluation, she leads the Grants & Evaluation Team in strategizing and implementing programmatic outcomes that enhance our long term impact in the communities we serve and executing all grant activity for our eight programs. Kristen has a background in non-profit development and educational/mentoring initiatitves for low-income youth. Kristen is very passionate about social issues, especially regarding education, youth development, and conflict resolution. She graduated from the University of Denver with her Bachelor's in International Studies and Political Science and received her Master's in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University with a focus in interfaith dialogue, mediation and Middle Eastern Politics. Kristen and her husband Nick live in Denver and love being outdoors. They also enjoy being in the mountains camping, hiking and fishing, spending time in their garden or with friends on the back patio.

Becky Torres began working at A Precious Child in April 2013 as a volunteer bilingual Client Services Associate. She quickly transitioned into her current Evaluation Coordinator role because of her strong organization and communication skills. She is a dedicated supporter of non-profit organizations and has always sought out opportunities to help children in need. Prior to her involvement with A Precious Child, Becky worked for United Brands, Banco Rio de la Plata and for a family-owned injection molding business. Becky is essential in establishing strong relationships and communications between A Precious Child and its Agency Partners. In her 32 years of marriage, she has moved domestically and internationally 14 times.

Veronica Canto joined A Precious Child's family in April 2014. She oversees all aspects of the Resource Center including the Receiving Area, Warehouse, Client Services, The Learning Center and the Store Floor. Veronica previously worked as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Wyatt Academy, a K-8 Charhet school in Northeast Denver. In role, she managed volunteers, built and maintained relationships with community partners, and oversaw all paper and electronic communications. After graduating with her Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2008, Veronica became the Children's Caseworker with the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA). She spearheaded the partnership of EFAA and A Precious Child and worked diligently with her clients to ensure they utilized the services at A Precious Child. Veronica is thrilled to continue to serve children and is excited to work side by side with incredible volunteers with the same drive. When she's not working, Veronica also volunteers as a soccer coach for Trebol Youth Soccer. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and playing with her adorable pet bunnies.

Brock Slack joined A Precious Child in August 2015 as the Warehouse and Receiving Manager. He works to insure all incoming donations are sorted properly so that our clients get the best possible items. He also works to devise new inventory control and management systems. Prior to joining the A precious Child family, he worked as the Fulfillment Manager as Studio Shed, where he managed inventory, purchasing, logistics, and shipping/receiving. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Lowe’s Home Centers in various roles focusing on inventory, commercial sales, and customer service. Brock lives in Thornton with his beautiful wife, Zani. In his spare time, you can find Brock listening to music, watching football and spending time with his family.

Maria Martinez joined the A Precious Child family in November 2014 as the Client Services Associate. During that time, she was quickly promoted to the Store Floor Manager in January 2015. Maria works diligently to ensure all clients have a positive shopping experience and a wide selection of donated clothing to choose from daily. She works with incredible volunteers to make our Resource Center look and feel like a store, even going as far as color coordinating clothing, organizing by style and dressing up mannequins. Prior to her work at A Precious Child, Maria was a Manager at a restaurant and served as a bartender for large banquets. In her spare time, she loves helping others and spending time with her family. Veronica lives in Thorton with her son and when she's not at work, you can find her cheering for her son at his recreational sporting events.

Lorena Robles is one of the longest standing employees at A Precious Child, having been with the organization since 2010. As the Client Services Associate, she collaborates with other staff to ensure that the client experience is comfortable and that each client is treated with respect. Lorena also ensures that each client receives fair access to all the services provided by A Precious Child and that they leave feeling dignified and empowered.  Before coming to A Precious Child, Lorena worked as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Tutor in school Dist. 50. She has always desired a career in the non-profit sector because she is driven by the meaningful work it provides. She is currently working to earn her Masters in International Relations and Arabic.


Maciel Hernandez

At the front desk, Maciel Hernandez helps orient and guide our many and diverse clients that come to be served by A Precious Child. She helps the clients and their children feel welcome by catching up on their life events. She listens to their stories and rejoices with them when they have good news and comforts them when they are struggling. Macial gives special attention to the children because she loves to see them smile. Prior to joining A Precious Child, Macial worked with struggilng yourh. She created programs that would help the youth overcome their various addictions and problems by having the youth help out in the community and getting them involved with different learning opportunities and extracurricular activities. Macial was also the Public Relations Tourist Manager for one of the biggest vineyards in her home country of Chile. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, decorating, hiking, traveling with her husband, and spoiling her nephews.

Brittany Polinski joined the team at A Precious Child in August, 2015.  As Volunteer Coordinator, Brittany oversees recruitment and retention of volunteers and interns.  She is tasked with coordinating volunteer requests throughout the organization, ensuring that all volunteers are utilized to their fullest potential and enjoy their experience with A Precious Child.  Brittany is a new resident of Colorado, having moved here from Illinois.  Previously, she worked for YWCA McLean County as their Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Assistant Director.  During her time at the YWCA, Brittany streamlined the process for volunteer recruitment as well as grant reporting procedures to ensure the program’s sustainability.  Brittany graduated from Illinois State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Politics and Government.  After graduating, Brittany worked in the private sector but felt unfulfilled in her lifelong calling of community service.  Brittany is thrilled to truly see the effects of her work every day at A Precious Child in the faces of the clients that she serves.  Outside of the office, Brittany enjoys camping, hiking, and listening to classic vinyl records with her boyfriend, Nick.
